Making of our The Pass-Bot advert...

Designing, creating, painting...

After a long time of painful planning we started to design all the backdrops, props and most importantly the robots.  We designed how they would work, what they would look like and what we would use to make them.

After all that we started to create them which was quite fun (so I heard anyway). To make the robots we first drew the outline of it on a piece of card.  Then we grabbed all the materials we wanted like pieces of tyre for arms or buttons for eyes and glued them onto the card. When we had done that we did a white undercoat and once that was dry we chose a base colour for our robot and painted it.  We dry brushed similar colours on top, then cut it out. With the backdrops and props it was basically the same process except that we didn't cut it out afterward.

Filming and editing...

When we had finished all the props and backdrops and robots we set up in one of our class breakout rooms and started filming. This process took a long time. We failed quite a few times and filmed every scene at least three or four times which was tiring and at the end our arms were aching.

It took a couple of days to film it all, but we were all happy at the end. After the filming stage we had to edit it which included choosing the best scenes, adding the voices for the robots, adding music and cutting it down so it fit the 45 second mark. We all found that it was a lot more work than we thought, but it was all worth it because we got first place in the year 7-8 commercial category for the MADE Awards 2018.
